what a crazy weekend!... and a quickpage for you!

Well... one thing is for sure, God sure is teaching me to trust in Him no matter what the circumstances! This past weekend was a real challenge for my family.

It snowed alot this past week so we were all a little worried about mother in law and father in law up there on the farm since they are only in that flimsy little vintage camper.
mother in law also said that their water pipes to the camper froze up most of the week so that wasn't good. So saturday morning as my husband and i were talking during the hour long drive out to the farm on, we are discussing how badly we would like to get the cabin finished quickly for MIL and FIL so they can be relatively comfortable soon. He was also mentioning that he was pretty tired since for almost a whole year now we've been playing the weekend warriors out at the farm working as hard as we can as long as we can on both Saturday and then again on Sunday after church. So we show up thinking maybe some workers will come up from the church again thinking it would be great if could get alot accomplished this weekend so we can hopefully get the cabin weather proofed and they can move into it partially
finished within 2 weeks and then Mother and Law and Father in Law can slowly finish up the rest of the interior finish work throughout the winter.

So we arrive at the farm and start working alone thinking the others would come soon and by noon still no one had shown up, and never did.
I mean, I totally understand, it's not like they are by any means obligated to help or anything and we certainly don't want them to feel like we expect them to be there every weekend, and I'm sure it was more because of the snow and the holidays and everything.. but it was still a little depressing...especially with the onset of colder weather. so we worked long into the night trying to get as much done as possible. But still not anywhere near as much as we hoped.
Then....

Sunday, morning my 70 year old Father in Law was helping out at a temporary job and fell and broke his hip. He just got out of surgery today and had a metal rod put in. I am not really familiar much with how long something like that will take to heal and for him to recuperate.
I am figuring though that he will be in a wheelchair for a while and possibly not able to walk for a while beyond that. So I am hoping that we will be able to get some more help soon since now all of the things that my father in law was working on at the farm are now up to us to complete.
I am really worried about him, his spirits are pretty low. I believe he could come back pretty well, He has done amazing things before.... When he was 30 years old he was a passenger in a terrible car accident where his back was broken. The doctors told him he would never walk again, and he worked hard and he did. He is the hardest worker and most amazingly creative and ingenuitive person i know of. He never complains even though he is in almost constant pain.
I am really praying that he won't become depressed over this. He has been pushing himself so hard lately and i think the stress is what brought on his recent bout of shingles (which i believe, he still has.) soo yeah.. it was a depressing weekend..
then today i start making my annual christmas cookie trays for people so i preheat the oven and make all of the batter and dough and set it out on trays... then i go to put them in and realize.. the oven pilot went out... so i light it again and wait.. and it goes out again.. :-( so fortunately for me i had my little countertop toaster oven so i just transferred them all bit by bit to my small toaster oven pan.. (yeah. BIG FUN.)
lol... so i figured i would give ya'll a nice long whiney blog while i am baking the night... er.. morning away...lol (yeah.. i got some cookies with my 'whine' ! LOL)

hopefully next weekend will be better.... lol...
