Artistic Heritage Collection - Tidings of Joy Mega Kit
$7.00
Artistic Heritage Collection-Tidings of Joy Mega Kit
The fourth in the Artistic Heritage Collection,Tidings of Joy
is based on a pair of still life portraits painted
by my Grandmother, Helen Stemen.
The Bible in one of the paintings is turned to
the passage of Luke 2 which tells the beautiful story
of the birth of the Christ Child. So I thought what better
name than,Tidings of Joy for this kit!
You'll notice I've
accented this kit with stars and angels as well as
the beautiful poinsettia flowers. I just recently learned that
they are also known as the flower of the Holy Night, which
coorelates with the legend of the poinsettia which tells
of two very poor little children who wanted to give the Christ
child a gift on christmas and all they had were weeds to place
in the local church manger scene, when other children saw what
they were doing they teased and scolded them causing them to cry with
shame and embarrasment. the legend states that Jesus saw what they
had meant to be a kind act, and immediately the weeds blossomed
into the vibrant red poinsettia flowers we know today.
This kit contains:
20 beautiful papers
over 60 lovely glistening elements

Freebie Mini Kit! :-)
hi everybody! I'm a bit late posting this, (more on that below)
this mini kit was created as a companian to one of my new kits in the Artistic Heritage Collection: Evening Silhouette
I hope you enjoy it! :-)
On a personal note:
I ended up working outside on the farm the last few days since we've had such nice dry weather getting things caught up before winter sets in. We got the garage roof patched and gutters cleaned out the gable of the cabin painted, the woodshed painted, a flatbed trailer load of about 100 of the tires (thats only 1/3 of those left from the previous tenant ) loaded and ready to take to the tire disposal place 2 hours away from us, the old house swept and cleared out so we can work on other big projects in there during the next few weeks in case its too cold outside. And, the most frustrating of all, we've been struggling nonstop for the past four days with cleaning the concrete floor of the little building we are remodeling to be my husbands office. The previous tenants did alot of mechanic work out here and i guess the stored oil and grease in that little building because it was literally caked on there with dirt matted into it we scraped the majority of it off with chisels and scrapers and then have cleaned it about 30 times (i'm really not exaggerating, lol!) with tons of various cleaners, and it was looking pretty good with no water beading off and just a few little specks of grease left when..... my DH was thinking we should remove those little specks and when he looked around on line for something to remove oil... he saw a suggestion for using WD-40.......... so he did... and now, everywhere he sprayed that is repelling water.. and we cannot apply the epoxy paint until that is cleaned off.. i am just shocked at how strong that stuff is,.. i've scrubbed with a wire brush and hard bristle brush with, commercial strength Dawn, Ajax, TSP,Auto Degreaser, (even Industrial Degreaser) and then acetone and again with straight TSP.. and water is still beading off like before. sooo needless to say i'm frustrated. lol with as much time and effort put into cleaning off this 9x12 floor we could have had a nice laminite floor put down i think! lol!! oh boy... a learning experience i guess! :-)
Anybody have a suggestion for removing WD-40 without leaving a water repellent residue??
have a great day everyone! :-)
((hugs))

Artistic Heritage Collection - Autumn Reflections Mega Kit
$7.00
This new series:
Artistic Heritage Collection is a collaboration between my Grandmother, Helen Stemen and myself.I'm so excited to tell you about this new collection! I've always loved the beauty of my Grandmother's oil paintings and now, together, we've discovered a way to treasure and share them with all of our family, friends and so many others! We think you will find them a perfectly beautiful addition to your scrapbook.
According to my Grandmother, this painting was inspired by the beauty of autumn inNoble County , Indiana and this particular selection was painted by my Great Grandfather (her Father) Orville Martin Stiffney. One interesting side note, is the color green used in this painting was a shade brighter than might normally be used. This was due to his failing eyesight in his older years, and is something I myself would have never noticed had my Grandmother not pointed it out to me. I think it adds a unique reflection of the artist himself in the piece.

We think you will find them a perfectly beautiful addition to your scrapbook. And a unique twist on holiday cards for this season with the modern look of black pine trees, red and gold!
According to my Grandmother,
this painting was the finished product of a art class assignment where they were asked to paint with just 3 colors, at the suggestion of her teacher, she decided to paint pine trees in silhouette and says it was an artistic challenge for her, but you would never know because the result is just beautiful! Later on, Grandma entered this painting in a review at Brown county artist colony and received an award certificate commenting on its beauty and originality. We think you will also agree, it is very unique and I can identify with Grandma's artistic challenge with the colors, it was an artistic stretch for me to come up with elements and papers to match a silhouette! We hope that you'll enjoy our combined art project!
