Blog Remodel and New Product :)

Hi All! As you know, in the not to distant past we welcomed our third child, Lincoln Jonathan into our family.  Let me introduce you to one of the people he's named after: my older brother Jon. :) In the photograph below he's alongside my sister, Saron ( my daughter Sarenna is named after her and my two other sisters: Susanna &  Sarah)  

So why am I telling you all this? I thought you might like to know a little backstory behind this digital scrapbooking kit " Happy Birthday Man" You see, Since both Saron and Jon had special birthdays this year (30 & 40) I thought it would be nice to do something extra special to celebrate.  This kit is a combination of modern patterns, chrome and silver (which Saron loves) and modern blues with a masculine look for my brother Jon.  This kit was created especially with decorations for their combined birthday party in mind (and I also made baby dedication decorations for both Sarenna and Lincoln with them too ... the dedication the excuse we used to get both of them to attend the party :) Sneaky, huh? They both loved the 20x30 photo collages of pictures I made from snapshots of years gone by. Walmart has a great photo collage service, I'm just picky about arrangement so I made mine in photoshop then uploaded and had them printed at our local walmart.

 So here's a close up of the 'my favorite things' cakes that were a total Pinspired idea from THIS Pin.  I took the easy way out and used a lot of pre made items to help me assemble them quickly though. With 3 kids, Under 6 I make no apologies for that :) lol! Really though, it's super easy and somewhat custom..as long as the flavors work well together.  Basically, each layer is arranged in saran wrap lined round cake pans, unless you baked one of the layers in one.. if so,it's removed wrapped in saran wrap and frozen. When they are all frozen solid, they are unwrapped stacked and iced. I used ganache, icing or caramel sauce where needed to help 'glue' anything together. I haven't made this since but next time I might try seven minute icing, or cool whip since it might break up the sweetness a little.maybe even add in something like a thin layer of nuts or pretzels. Either way, it's clearly not the healthiest thing to be eating..lol  but if you're going for a special occasion celebration.. they make quite an impression celebrating some of that person's favorite things.  So the first one here on the left is a combination of  Jon's favorite desserts & treats: swiss cake rolls,  caramel, banana cake , smore's, cheesecake, peanut butter cup, chocolate chip cookies and brownie.  Saron's favorite desserts (on the right) layers top to bottom include: almond joy, chocolate covered strawberry, smore's, cheesecake, brownie,reese's pb cup, chocolate chip cookie.

The Studio Blog Christmas Carol Blog Hop!

I hope you're having a wonderful holiday season! I've created this little mini for you as an addon to the Baby's First Year Nibbles Skribbles and I collaborated on last year ...

and since that time, I've had another baby and she's expecting another as well! lol!  It's very very busy around our household now with the arrival of our third child, Lincoln Jonathan Kraan.  He's getting very big, just turned 3 months on the 11th and already wearing 9 month clothes! :)  He arrived on September 11th  and because we are homeschooling our oldest in kindergarten this year...it's been a whirlwind trying to catch her up,(finally accomplished that! woohoo!!) nurse him,and take care of our 19 month old too. :) I've always had respect for homeschooling Moms and now that I've joined their ranks I've got even more.  It's a trick to balance everything now and  I think I'm just about getting the hang of it! (knock on wood! lol!) Here's the latest picture of our newest little bundle of joy dressed in the 'Legend of Zelda Link ' costume our family friend, Diana Gigler made for him (isn't it adorable?!) He's going to be wearing it as much as possible as he's almost outgrown it already!

I've got a few projects I'm working on for you all one of which is a great modern/masculine kit inspired by my computer savvy, database programmer brother, Jon. (His 40th birthday is coming up in November and I’m excited to plan, decorate and cater and bake special goodies for it) So of course, special decorations in just the right color scheme for him were in order. Wow! lots of great news for you today! :-)

First of all, I just wanted to announce, We're having a BOY! :-) My husband said after all the pink we've seen over the last 5 years he's still in shock that we'll be seeing some boy colors soon. lol! :-)  We've picked out a name already for him: Lincoln Jonathan. (we're documentary watchers around here... and big fans of Abraham Lincoln) and the middle name is for one of my best friends, my brother Jonathan :-)
So as you're I'm sure aware, it's iNSD time! And there's lots of great sales and things planned at theStudio for you, be sure to stop by while you're running around enjoying the festivities and speaking of festivities, we've got a few parties of our own coming up here over the next few days!

First, My youngest daughter Sarenna, is turning ONE on the 7th of May and to celebrate (and decorate) I got together with my friend Candy (Scraps of Candy) to create this beautiful collection of goodies to decorate for her party (and then, of course scrapbook with too :-) I love the whole thing but I'm particularly happy with how the icing decorations came out, handmade by myself. I think they'll be wonderful additions to ANY cake themed layout and I created them to be easily recolored to to suit your needs too :-) 

And then just a week after that, my 5 year old, Joanna will be graduating from preschool! (growing up so fast!) so again to decorate (and scrapbook with) I've created the Lil' Grads Collection!
